Khari Cabral & Jiva

The 90's was a fertile time in the Atlanta music scene. There were many sounds flooding into the city from many places....U.K. Acid Jazz, Chicago soulful house, Italian Nu-Bossa Nova and Philly Nu Soul.  Add in the emergence of Rare Groove (unsung 70s jazz funk and soul), and there is the building blocks of Atlanta's current music scene. Khari Cabral was playing bass for many people in the city. Rock, Dance, Soul and Hip Hop kept him a busy bassist.  This culminated in Khari touring with India.Arie for a decade. As his touring life took off, Khari created a group that would bring together the wide influences dominating Atlanta radio. Jiva was formed! A group consisting of a vocal section, much like The 5th Dimension and The Jones Girls. Add in a freight train rhythm section, with Khari anchoring it down on bass, and Jiva was on the way.
